SATURDAY 8 th JUNE 2024

The stage was a tough one. The competitors had to ride 155 km and climb 4269 metres. The final 10 km was a steep hill climb with gradients between 9% and 13% .

Marc Soler was leading at the foot of this climb. Courageously , he had attacked near the top of the Col De Ramaz,  by the time he was at the bottom of the final climb , he was easly leading the race by 5 minutes  .In silence, he began his difficult task.

But the other competitors had other ideas…. A groupe of Poursuivants   quietly but steadily began to eat into his lead..Expertly, the chasing group worked together to catch him up. Halfway though the climb Marc Solers lead had been redused  to 1 minute 53 seconds.

The race was ON!

By this time , a crowd had gathered on the final climb . Loudly, they waited for the riders to appear!  Marc Soler was finally overtaken by the Poursuivants about a km from the finish [where i was excitedly watching the race.]    Primoz Rodlic was patiently waiting to attack! 500 meters from the finish coragosly and without warning, he made his move on the left.

Powerfully and with confidence he powerd to the front of the race for  back to back stage wins!

Victoriously,he crossed the finesh line whilst the crowd was cheering!

  1. A very exciting account Jake. It really reminded me of the actual day of the race. You caught the tension of the competition. TDF starts on Saturday!
